Winter is coming!

Winter is coming, mamas! And with this comes runny noses, coughs, the flu, and lots of missed, school, work or activities. But it doesn't have to be that way.

Whether you get the flu shot or not - I'm not here to tell you what to do - you can find a way to help prevent getting sick this winter season. And one of the best ways we have found to stay happy and healthy has been through the use of essential oils.

Essential oils are the defense mechanism of the plant - the thing that makes protects, heals, and rejuvinates it. So it goes to say that if it's good enough for those cells, it's probably pretty helpful for ours. Essential oils have been used for 100's of thousands of years by all cultures, and have currently made a huge resurgence in the Western world. One of my friend's favorite says is, "If it was good enough for Baby Jesus, it's good enough for me."

We have started using essential oils for all kinds of things in our home. Sleep issues, stress management, cold sores, dry skin, diaper rash and more. But one of the biggest preventative oils we have started using is On Guard.

On Guard is dōTERRA®’s unique, proprietary blend is formulated to support healthy immune function. Wild orange essential oil, combined with clove, cinnamon, eucalyptus and rosemary offer a fragrant, natural and effective alternative to synthetic options for immune support. On Guard, with its unique aroma, is one of doTERRA’s most versatile blends. It is also safe to use on counter tops, as a non-toxic way to cleanse surfaces, or to purify the atmosphere by diffusing. On Guard is superb for eliminating and controlling pathogens due to the potency of its constituents.

The amazing thing about essential oils is you CAN NOT build a resistance to them, they are too complex. Which means that for baterial infeections they are wonderful because the rate of bacterial infections building a resistance to antibiotics is growing. We are so many "Superbugs" not that cannot be treated regularly (or in one round) of antibiotics.

The other amazing thing about essential oils is they can penetrate the cell wall - which is where viruses go when they enter the cell. Bacteria sits on the outside of the cell. Viruses penetrate inside.

When you go to the doctor and they say, "It's viral (like a common cold or flu). There's nothing we can do," NOW, you have an answer. On Guard is designed to help combat viruses, and bacterial infections and have been shown to prevent and rememdy influenza (SEE THIS LINK) Essential oils are antibacterial, anti-fungal, anit-viral, anti-microbial, anti-parasitic, and antiseptic. That's pretty powerful.

Here are three ways you can use On Guard in your home to prevent the "winter funk."

Topically: Use 1-2 drops of On Guard mixed with a little bit of fractionated coconut oil. Rub on the bottom of your feet each day before putting on your socks. The bottom of your feet have the biggest pores and the oils are absorbed into the bloodstream fastest there. Oils can reach every cell of the body within 30 seconds this way.

Internally: You can put 1-2 drops in your mouth and sip some water. It's a bit tingly, but works quickly. You can also use the On Guard Protective beadlets (individually wrapped drops of oil designed to dissolved in your mouth.

Aromatically: Put it in the diffuser and enjoy! This will keep the whole house, and the air you are breathing, JUNK free!

doTERRA makes a great line of cleaning products designed for your home - or you can DIY it (but that's a whole other blog post). You just can't do wrong with this one!!
